elemental divisions

The Elementals are not twelve random symbols placed on a wheel. They are divisions of the same circle.

What the Circle Is Doing

The Elementals are not twelve random symbols placed on a wheel.

They are divisions of the same circle. Crystal Vision begins with Universe as One. One circle. One whole. But if we keep the circle as One, nothing can be said except: Universe is Universe. True, but not very useful.

So we divide.

Each division is a way of cutting the circle into a different resolution. Base-2 shows the great oppositions. Base-3 shows scale and process. Base-4 shows pillars and textures. Base-12 gives the twelve Elementals themselves.

An Elemental is not only a name. It is a coordinate. Light is not just Light. Void is not just Void. Each Elemental is what happens when several divisions meet in one thirty-degree room.

Inside and Outside

The first base-2 division is Inside and Outside. Inside runs from E1 to E6. Outside runs from E7 to E12.

Inside means the Elemental belongs to the first half of manifestation: the inner world, the immediate world, the body-world, the part of reality that feels close enough to be held directly. Light, Stone, Eye-1, Water, Fire, and Earth all belong to Inside. They describe reality becoming visible, stable, perceived, alive, burning, and workable.

Outside means the Elemental belongs to the second half of manifestation: the reflected world, the distant world, the social world, the symbolic world, the world that has moved beyond immediate grasp. Eye-2, Ice, Gold, Dust, Eye-3, and Void all belong to Outside. They describe reality becoming distant, hidden, collective, ordered, visionary, and finally impossible to hold.

Inside is not better than Outside. Inside is close. Outside is far. Inside is held. Outside is witnessed.

Self and Other

The second base-2 division is Self and Other. This cut is rotated. It does not split the circle into first half and second half. It cuts across the wheel differently.

Self runs through E10, E11, E12, E1, E2, and E3. Other runs through E4, E5, E6, E7, E8, and E9.

Self means the Elemental is oriented around the observer, the inner axis, the thing returning to itself. It does not have to mean “me” in a shallow ego way. It means the pole of identity, continuity, perception, structure, and return.

Other means the Elemental is oriented around relation. It is where the self meets what is not-self: Love, desire, work, peace, danger, society, consequence.

This division is important because the Codex is not only asking whether something is internal or external. It asks: is this moving through the axis of Self, or is this moving through the field of Other? Water is Inside, but Other. Dust is Outside, but Self. That difference matters.

Micro, Meso, Macro

The base-3 Level division is Micro, Meso, and Macro. Micro runs from E1 to E4. Meso runs from E5 to E8. Macro runs from E9 to E12.

This division tells us the scale at which the Elemental operates. Micro is the small, first, intimate layer. It is not “small” as in unimportant. It is small as in foundational. Micro is the level of first light, first stability, first perception, first life-feeling.

Meso is the middle world. It is where things become active, embodied, relational, dangerous, useful, social, and alive in a more obvious way. Fire, Earth, Eye-2, and Ice all belong to Meso because they describe the world where force, work, peace, and traps begin shaping the field.

Macro is the large scale. It is collective, structural, symbolic, cosmic, and final. Gold, Dust, Eye-3, and Void belong to Macro because they describe wisdom, order, vision, disappearance, inheritance, and return.

Level answers: at what scale is this happening? Micro is root. Meso is field. Macro is world.

Core, Shell, Shadow, Dream

The new base-4 division is the Pillar division. Core runs from E1 to E3. Shell runs from E4 to E6. Shadow runs from E7 to E9. Dream runs from E10 to E12.

This division shows the four great houses of the Elemental circle. Core is the first interior. It is where reality becomes clear, stable, and seen. Light, Stone, and Eye-1 form the Core because they give Truth, ground, and first perception. Core is the centre of the centre.

Shell is the living surface. Water, Fire, and Earth form the Shell because they are where Life touches the world. Shell feels, burns, acts, grows, works, and becomes useful. It is the body of the circle.

Shadow is the outside field. Eye-2, Ice, and Gold form the Shadow because they show distance, hiddenness, Peace, fear, consequence, and the strange wisdom of what stands beyond immediate control. Shadow is not evil. Shadow is what you do not fully own.

Dream is the symbolic return. Dust, Eye-3, and Void form the Dream because they belong to structure, vision, myth, Time, transcendence, and disappearance. Dream is the part of the circle where reality becomes architecture, prophecy, and mist.

The Pillars are useful because each one feels like a small story. Core says: become real. Shell says: become alive. Shadow says: meet what is beyond you. Dream says: return through symbol.

Shape

Shape is a base-2 pulse. Shape+ means form is present. The Elemental holds a clearer edge. It asserts, defines, stabilises, radiates, builds, or stands.

Shape- means form is loosened. The Elemental opens, dissolves, perceives, flows, hides, or escapes simple boundaries.

Shape+ is not good. Shape- is not bad. Shape+ gives definition. Shape- gives openness. Without Shape+, nothing holds. Without Shape-, nothing breathes.

Flow

Flow is another base-2 pulse, but faster than Shape. Flow+ means the movement goes outward. It emits, expresses, pushes, opens, gives, shines, or moves forward.

Flow- means the movement goes inward. It receives, gathers, absorbs, holds, pulls, deepens, or contains.

Again, this is not moral. Flow+ is not better than Flow-. A heartbeat needs both. Flow tells you how the Elemental moves its energy: does it go out, or does it draw in?

Temperature

Temperature is a base-3 process division: Prime, Constant, Terminal. Prime begins. Constant sustains. Terminal completes.

This is different from Micro, Meso, Macro. Level tells you scale. Temperature tells you phase.

Prime Elementals have a firstness to them. They open a new stage. Light, Water, Eye-2, and Dust are Prime because they begin their respective Pillars. Constant Elementals hold the process. Stone, Fire, Ice, and Eye-3 are Constant because they sustain, repeat, intensify, or stabilise the current. Terminal Elementals complete the process. Eye-1, Earth, Gold, and Void are Terminal because they close a movement and prepare the next threshold.

Prime is birth. Constant is duration. Terminal is completion. And then the circle continues.

Texture

Texture is created by Shape and Flow together. There are four Textures: Radiant, Dense, Loose, and Strange.

Radiant is Shape+ and Flow+. It has form, and it moves outward. Radiant Elementals shine, burn, declare, project, and send themselves into the world. Light, Fire, and Gold are Radiant.

Dense is Shape+ and Flow-. It has form, but it pulls inward. Dense Elementals hold, weigh, structure, protect, build, and store. Stone, Earth, and Dust are Dense.

Loose is Shape- and Flow+. It has loosened form, and it moves outward. Loose Elementals perceive, communicate, clear, travel, open, and spread. Eye-1, Eye-2, and Eye-3 are Loose.

Strange is Shape- and Flow-. It has loosened form, but it pulls inward. Strange Elementals receive, dissolve, trap, haunt, absorb, hide, and transform. Water, Ice, and Void are Strange.

Texture tells you how an Elemental feels in the hand. Radiant shines. Dense holds. Loose opens. Strange pulls.

The Divisions at a Glance

Elemental divisions and what they mean

The Twelve Rooms

Now the twelve Elementals can be seen as rooms where all these divisions meet.

Why This Matters

The divisions make the Elementals easier to use. If you do not know what an Elemental means yet, you can look at its coordinates.

Is it Inside or Outside? Self or Other? Micro, Meso, or Macro? Core, Shell, Shadow, or Dream? Does it hold Shape or lose Shape? Does it Flow outward or inward? Is it Prime, Constant, or Terminal? What Texture does it carry?

This is how you read the circle with Crystal Vision. One Universe folded into many bases.
